WikiLeaks moves to new domain, CH extension used.

After allegedly receiving series of attacks and termination from US companies hosting their internet activities, WikiLeaks reportedly moved to a new domain extension, WikiLeaks.ch.

CH is the domain extension assigned for the country of Switzerland. According to reports, the whistle-blowing website’s new domain name is owned by The Pirate Party Switzerland, a group sympathizing the controversial website.

WikiLeaks moved from the ORG extension to CH after EveryDNS terminated the controversial website’s address on Thursday due to attacks, that might affect 490,000 other websites using their infrastructure.

The team behind EveryDNS revealed that WikiLeaks is “a difficult issue to deal with.” A statement was posted in the DNS provider’s official website:

EveryDNS.net, the world’s largest free managed DNS provider, is not taking a position on the content hosted on the wikileaks.org or wikileaks.ch website, it is following established policies so as not to put any one EveryDNS.net user’s interests ahead of any others. Lastly, regardless of what people say about the actions of EveryDNS.net, we know this much is true – we believe in our New Hampshire state motto, Live Free or Die.

Meanwhile, WikiLeaks is also facing hosting problems. After Amazon decided to remove WikiLeaks from its servers, Bahnhof Internet AB in Sweden reportedly shouldered the controversial website’s hosting.

According to PC World, WikiLeaks.ch is still using EveryDNS even after the provider’s decision to terminate their ORG domain name.

Update: WikiLeaks.ch is now inaccessible after EveryDNS terminated the whistle-blowing site’s DNS again.
