AT&T’s first 3D phone hits stores today.

Summary: The first, direct rival of Sprint Nextel’s HTC Evo 3D is finally available, the LG Thrill 4G, AT&T’s first dual-core 3D smartphone.

Possibly one of the much-anticipated high-end Android devices this year, the LG Optimus 3D, is finally available here in United States sporting a unique branding, the LG Thrill 4G. Apparently, the device is running under the banner of AT&T and the carrier’s 4G or HSPA+ data speed which is theoretically faster than the regular 3G, only if the so-called “4G” is available in your area.

The LG Optimus 3D, or LG Thrill 4G of AT&T is powered by Texas Instruments OMAP4, which is a dual-core processor clocked at 1GHz. The OMAP4 is also the processor being used by Verizon’s popular phone that will arrive next week, the Motorola Droid Bionic.

The LG Thrill 4G is also powered by 512MB of dedicated RAM, two five-megapixel forward facing cameras for shooting 2D or 3D videos, a front-facing camera for video chatting applications like Skype or Tango, and the only drawback — the device is powered by Android FroYo 2.2., which is the older version of the popular mobile operating system. The latest build for smartphones is the 2.3.4 which is being used by popular phones like Samsung Galaxy S II and Motorola Photon 4G.

The LG Thrill 4G is the first 3D glassless device to hit the AT&T lineup, competing against the HTC Evo 3D being offered by Sprint Nextel. The LG Thrill 4G is a high-end smartphone sporting a mid-range price tag of $99.99 with a 2-year contract agreement.
