Sprint actually “doesn’t care” about iPhone, 70% of smartphones to be Android-based.

HTC Evo Shift 4G is one of the first Android devices introduced by Sprint this year. The carrier reportedly ready to double 4G and Android smartphones under its name this year.
According to a WSJ article republished by PhAndroid, Sprint will redouble its 4G and Android-based smartphones this year. And without further adieu, here’s the target percentage.. 70%.
With the success of HTC, Samsung, and other Android smartphones running on Sprint’s network, the company’s Fared Adib promises customers that they’ll be seeing updated, and more Android more powerful smartphones this year.
Sprint’s network is almost identical to Verizon Wireless, but with Verizon scheduled to sell its very own iPhone 4 this month, Sprint “is left behind.” So the question is, can Android help Sprint? Well, the answer depends on the variety of upcoming Android devices.
One of the first Android smartphones to get the Sprint stage is the Kyocera Echo, the dual-touchscreen smartphone powered by Google Android’s FroYo version. Unlike other current smartphones available in the market today, the Kyocera Echo sports two capacitive touchscreens that can turn the smartphone into a small tablet.
Another notable Android smartphone of Sprint is the Evo Sprint 4G, which also uses FroYo as pre-installed operating system, with device powered by 1 GHz Snapdragon processor, ROM of2 GB eMMC, RAM of 512 MB, HTC’s iconic kickstand, and was pre-populated with enhanced UI courtesy of HTC Sense.
With the report of not including the “iPhone 4″ or the “iPhone 5″ as part of this year’s plan, looks like Sprint will not be getting the iOS smartphones this year.
