Sony Commits To Support Firefox OS
Article by: Raphael Labuguen – Likely to boost its mid-range offering, Sony has confirmed that it will support Mozilla’s Firefox OS, the newest platform that will power “mid-range” and entry-level smartphones.
Possibly to target emerging markets where cheaper smartphones are more popular, Sony said it will offer Firefox-powered mobile devices in 2014, a year late compared to other manufacturers such as ZTE and Alcatel.
Of course, Sony’s main focus is still on Android, the most popular mobile operating system based on market share. Sony is set to release its latest flagship smartphone this quarter, the Sony Xperia Z. The handset features Android Jelly Bean, high-definition display and 13-megapixel primary camera.
