Samsung Galaxy S4 Pre-Release Date Rumors, From Variants to Features
Article by: Carlo Raphael Diokno — It makes sense for Samsung to release a new flagship Android device this year, the Samsung Galaxy S4, but details about its specs and features remain under wraps until next month’s event in United States.
However, rumors related to the Galaxy S4 started appearing in news websites last year, and this month, the mill is on final grind as more leaks appear on the web — from benchmark scores to images, claiming that the Galaxy S4 is the “it” device that will blow other Android devices out of the water.
But here’s the catch, HTC’s new flagship is a beautifully crafted hardware with top-end specs — The HTC One — Can the Galaxy S4 outsell it? Or HTC is on the verge of a comeback courtesy of its new Android handset?

Software-wise, rumors point to new Touchwiz skin that will run on top of the original Android Jelly Bean mobile operating system. As reported by Droid-Life last week, the new Touchwiz skin that will on the Samsung Galaxy S4 will support Jelly Bean’s “Photo Sphere” feature and will take advantage of Qi wireless charging technology, Samsung will reportedly call the feature “Samsung Orb” — an add-on accessory similar to Google’s Charging orb.
Hardware-wise, the rumor mill is noisier as benchmark reports leak to web. According to recent posts, Samsung will offer multiple variants depending on region, the country’s available wireless technology, and carrier limitation. In the United States for example, rumors say the Samsung Galaxy S4 will carry the new Qualcomm chipset and not the long-rumored Octa-core. Some say the Samsung Galaxy S4 variant will ship with the Snapdragon 600 because of Long Term Evolution. In other countries, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will reportedly ship with the new, and arguably faster Exynos 5 Octa processor and will support certain LTE and HSPA+ networks.
Samsung is scheduled to unveil the Galaxy S4 in New York on March 14 with an invite confirming that “4″ is the company’s next flagship phone. Samsung has not announced the release date of the Galaxy S4 yet, but it is safe to say that the company will unveil additional details at the event. Samsung’s partners might start accepting pre-orders and offer additional information after the event.
Last year’s Samsung Galaxy S3 was supported by all major networks, Verizon Wireless, AT&T, T-Mobile and Sprint — and this year will be no different, the Samsung Galaxy S4 will likely hit all major US wireless carriers with multiple release date.
