Microsoft begins Windows Phone Mango 7.5 update.

Microsoft confirmed in a blog post that the much-anticipated Mango 7.5 update is rolling out Wednesday “to more than 98 percent of existing Windows Phone customers,” so it is quite obvious that at least 2% of Windows Phone users will not get the update today, but still better compared to the slow rollout of update in some Android-based devices.

Microsoft also explains that the update will include all carriers and handsets, but quickly added that the Windows Phone Mango operating system version will not arrive in all smartphones at once, saying that it could take “few weeks” before an update message for Mango appears on some phones.

Windows Phone Mango includes 500 new features, and some of them are multitasking, better internet browser, camera application support (for supported devices), and better integration of social networking features like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn.

Windows Phone is still not making a “dent” in the smartphone operating system market, and still placed under Android, iOS and BlackBerry but many believe Windows Phone Mango may help the platform to grab more market share. Phone company Nokia is expected to compete against Apple and Google this year by using Windows Phone Mango operating system. The first set of Nokia with Windows Phone operating system will arrive in Q4.
