New leaks reveal Motorola’s next tablet, the Xoom 2 Media Edition.
The Verge and Engadget leak today the next tablet of Motorola Mobility, the Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition. Aside from the obvious feature of “lighter and thinner,” the Motorola Xoom 2′s screen is reportedly smaller than the original version, only 8.2-inch. The Verge claims the screen is HD, but no screen resolution mentioned.
The site’s unnamed source also added that the Xoom 2 Media Edition will use IPS display with an anti-glare coating, and the device weighs 0.95 pounds only. Apparently, the smaller screen size helped in making the device lighter.
Other features mentioned by The Verge’s report are magnesium and aluminum chassis, gorilla glass display, integrated IR remote and a subwoofer. Motorola is reportedly into promoting the Xoom 2 Media Edition as an e-reader replacement. An Amazon tablet rival? Well, maybe.
Meanwhile, Engadget posted a follow up article that includes a set of images of the so-called Motorola Xoom 2 Media Edition. The images provided shows the Xoom 2 Media Edition is the same device leaked last week, showing an unannounced Motorola tablet with the 7 to 9-inch screen and Motorola Photon 4G-like profile.
