Google’s new Nexus 7 tablet computer is set to join the U.S. tablet computer market this month, specifically on July 31, a new leak reveals. The date came from a leaked memo from US retail chain Staples with initial inventory from ASUS coming as early as next week. More leaks are expected to arrive once the computer is in retail stores.
The Google Nexus 7 2 tablet computer, or the 2013 model, is expected to run the latest version of Android Jelly Bean, the 4.3 build which will offer some improvements under the hood. The new system will also arrive on other Nexus devices, the Galaxy Nexus, the Nexus 4 and the 2012 Nexus 7 tablet.
The new Nexus 7 will offer a 5-megapixel back-facing camera, a front-facing camera, a new quad-core processor with Long Term Evolution support and a new 7-inch display which would offer more pixels per square inch. Leaks online also claims that the tablet computer will offer a base 16GB model, 2GB RAM and a new design.
The Google Nexus 7 2013 tablet computer will compete with the new Samsung Galaxy Tab lineup running Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2, but unlike Samsung’s devices, the ASUS-made slate will ship with Google’s products and services only like Google Wallet, Google Drive, Gmail and other major Google services. The computer will run an untouched version of Android tailored to run on bigger display.
The new tablet computer is also competing with the iPad Mini of Apple and online retail giant Amazon’s Kindle Fire tablet PC lineup.
