Similarly designed Galaxy S4 already selling well?

Article written by Kevin Go – While HTC is having problems with the production of its One handset and sales of Sony’s Xperia Z is going steady, it appears that Samsung’s new flagship super phone, the Galaxy S4, is already showing some positive numbers in the retail front — even though it is yet to hit the market this April.

According to the Europe-based smartphone retail juggernaut, it is now experiencing the ‘busiest pre-registration period ever’ which is rather surprising considering that the third iteration of the Galaxy S series of smartphones, the Galaxy S3, already reached record-breaking sales numbers — around 30 million units after just seven months since its launch — something unheard of the world of Android devices.

The Galaxy S3′s sales milestone has already bar too high, that the Galaxy S4 is likely to be the only contender capable of topping it further — that’s if the HTC One or successor to the iPhone 5 will do better, then again, the Galaxy S4 is easier and faster to manufacture compared to those two so supply chain is the primary issue here.

“The vast number of pre-registrations we’ve had for this device is evidence how hot the Galaxy S4 is going to be. The launch event in New York clearly captured the imagination of many of our customers – acting as the driving force for the busiest pre-registration period we’ve ever seen!”

“The Galaxy SIII launch broke records last year and was always going to be a tough one to beat, but the S4 is already proving to be a more than capable step up in the series that will inspire many people to make the switch to Android from other operating systems. This device is the one to watch for 2013.” -Graham Stapleton, COO of Carphone Warehouse

The GSM/International Samsung Galaxy S4 variant sports a 4.99-inch full high-definition AMOLED display with floating touch detection, a 4×4 (four by four processor configuration) Exynos 5410 Octa system-on-a-chip clocking in at 1.6 gigahertz, 2 gigabytes of roomy DDR3 RAM, 2,600mAh battery, front facing HD camera, 13 megapixel main camera with a handful of software enhancements, monaural rear loudspeaker, in-call noise suppression, 16/32/64 gigabytes of [expandable] internal storage space, WiFi, Bluetooth and HSPA support.

The U.S. variant sports similar hardware above except for the Exynos 5410 processor, due to the Exynos chips’ lack of hardware for supporting LTE or Long-Term Evolution networks, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chip which features a built-in LTE modem will grace the Galaxy S4 model destined for the U.S. market. Source
