Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) Receives New Android Jelly Bean Update

Samsung Galaxy Nexus of Verizon Wireless finally receives the latest version of Jelly Bean, weeks after the unlocked Galaxy Nexus

samsung-galaxy-nexus-software-updateArticle written by Kevin Go – One of the many perks — and probably the main selling point — of getting a Google Nexus smartphone is being able to taste the latest version of the Android mobile operating system ahead of any other Android smartphones such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 and HTC One, when people found out that Verizon Wireless will offer a LTE version of the Galaxy Nexus, many thought that they will still be treated the same as GSM/International GNex owners while taking advantage of Big Red’s ultra fast LTE network — after missing four consecutive Android updates, they’ve realized their mistake and vowed never to trust Verizon’s software support again.

Verizon did promise that the Galaxy Nexus will receive the Android 4.2.2 update but they chose not to reveal the exact roll-out dates and that’s for a good reason, Verizon customers are pretty much aware that their beloved carrier is not trustworthy in terms of firmware update promises and roll out schedules, luckily, now’s the time to retract those statements (at least for now) since Big Red has already started pushing out the over-the-air Android 4.2.2 update for its version of the Samsung Galaxy Nexus.

“The software includes new camera features such as photosphere to take 360 degree panoramic pictures that can easily be shared with friends. The camera app also has new tools to add filters and borders, further customizing pictures.”

“Additionally, an all new Gesture Keyboard is available, allowing users to slide their finger from letter to letter to type a word. Other enhancements include allowing users to place widgets on the lock screen for easier access to popular apps such as Calendar, Gmail and Clock.” -Albert Aydin, Corporate Communications analyst for Verizon Wireless

The roll out is being done in phases so don’t be alarmed if for some reason your Galaxy Nexus has not shown any firmware update notifications, just go to Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates and tap on ‘Check now’ periodically to make sure you get a taste of what the latest Android Jelly Bean OS has to offer, as soon as possible.
