Specs of Samsung Galaxy S4 Leaks, Again?

Rumors surrounding the Galaxy S4 are so plenty that it’s hard to distinguish which one is real, then again, the rumor-mill is not exactly the kind of source worth trusting but, given Samsung’s expertise in the semiconductor front, we can’t blame hearsayers from speculating ridiculous specs that’ll come with the mysterious Galaxy S4 right?

Here comes a new addition to the cornucopia of Galaxy S4 hardware rumors, a PDF file courtesy of Mirae Asset Group – a South Korean financial firm — is being raved about by a ton of technology news sites (including ours, obviously) due to the inclusion of the Galaxy S4′s unveiling date which will purportedly take place on the 15th of next month.

samsung-galaxy-s4-leaksNot only that, the file also indicates that Samsung’s upcoming flagship will not sport the eight-core Exynos 5 Octa processor everyone’s been waiting talking about, instead, it will come with the quad-core Exynos 5440 chip which is, actually, more realistic in my honest opinion. The Exynos 5212 which powers the Samsung Nexus 10 of Google is already quite powerful despite it having only two processing cores, in most benchmarks, the Exynos 5212 was able to beat most of its quad-core Cortex-A9 based counterparts like the Tegra 3 chip from Nvidia and the Exynos 4412 found inside the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.

All thanks to the Exynos 5212′s more efficient and faster Cortex-A15 architecture — bear in mind that Samsung has done significant tweaks to ARM’s original designed, it has also equipped this dual-core powerhouse with an impressive Mali-T604 graphics processor — a deadly combination that pretty much blows the competition out of the water.

These bits are still unfounded, the news about the March 15 unveiling is a little too hazy if we were to base the Galaxy S4′s release on Samsung previous release cycles. Sammy’s high-end smartphones such as the Galaxy S3 and its previous flagship, the Galaxy S2 were both released within the month of May — two months away from the rumored launch date. To rub salt into the wound, the first-generation Gaalaxy S smartphone was announced in June of 2010.

The news regarding the Exynos system-on-a-chip is easier to believe, I’m suspecting we won’t be seeing the Exynos 5 Octa in any of Samsung’s products anytime soon — it’ll probably be featured in the Galaxy Note 3 but, anyway, who am I to spoil the fun right?

It’s always best to stick to realistic leaks at times like this, over expectations are what ruins product launches. Then again, nothing’s impossible in the ludicrous smartphone market. Source: Phandroid.
