Rumor: Samsung Galaxy Note 3 release date, specs and more..

Several reports are pointing at Samsung’s upcoming phablet, the Galaxy Note 3 which will purportedly come with the recently announced eight-core Exynos 5 processor courtesy of the Korean giant’s semiconductor division, interestingly, the successor to the current Galaxy Note 2 is also said to come with an even larger 6.3 inch display to [probably] set itself apart from 5-inch 1080p smartphones that keep popping just about everywhere.
This rumor appeared shortly after a Huawei official has confirmed that the Chinese smartphone maker is indeed in talks with Samsung to produce smartphones together in the near future, another news worth mentioning is that ZTE is purportedly looking to strike a deal with Samsung since the company is said to be in search for “better chips with better pricing”, Samsung is obviously on a roll to find other companies to engulf with its semiconductor prowess so as to minimize the negative sales impact in its chip making business once Apple Incorporated has decided to completely cut its ties with its biggest rival in the smartphone business.
Anyway, let’s get back to the Galaxy Note 3 shall we? apart from the larger 6.3-inch screen, the highlight feature of the upcoming phablet is its Exynos 5 Octa processor which is based on ARM’s ‘big.LITTLE’ architecture.
If you’re not aware of this impressive piece of hardware, let us serve you a refresher, here’s an excerp from a previous article which explains the how ARM’s new architecture works: The principle behind ARM’s big.LITTLE computing is very similar with that of Nvidia’s 4 PLUS 1 power-saving solution found inside the Tegra 3 AP but, instead of stuffing a total of five Cortex-A9 cores on one die, ARM’s big.LITTLE boasts a total of eight ‘hamsters’ in its heart — Four Cortex-A7 cores paired with quad Cortex-A15 cores.
The four Cortex-A7 core will act as the ‘companion core’ when there’s little demand for computational horsepower since the new Cortex-A7 offers better performance per clock compared to the Cortex-A8, not to mention it consumes just a fifth of the energy that its predecessor does, we’re interested to find out about the performance tweaks that Sammy has added to the big.LITTLE concept, its Exynos chips have always been the pinnacle of performance when it comes to mobile chips.
Now that you have an idea on how the Exynos 5 will work, don’t be surprised if the Galaxy Note 3 becomes the king in the hardware arena once again, thing is, we can’t fathom the need for an excessively large display on a smartphone. The Galaxy Note 2 is already massive with its 5.5-inch screen, imagine a 6.3-inch Note! As for the resolution, it’s safe to speculate that Note 3 will come with a 1080p resolution if not higher, we hope it doesn’t get any bigger than it already is or we’ll need to start using baseball gloves to be able to hold it properly.
(Oh the rumor-mill, always working so hard to keep us all mad excited like we’ve all drank a liter of espresso).
