A recent report is suggesting that Sony’s upcoming flagship Android smartphone will be called the Xperia Z once it gets officially launched next year, with all the leaked features that it’ll come with, we suppose it is named as such since it will be the end of competing Android handsets.
Actually, that’s a bit of an overstatement since every Android-powered device has its own set of strengths and weaknesses but the 5-inch 1080p display, quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro CPU and the Exmor RS camera sensor will certainly make for a very impressive super phone that’s bound to win against star players n the market such as the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the Apple iPhone 5.
A new feature of the Sony Xperia Z Aka. C660X Yuga has just been divulged as well which is the OptiContrast display panel (same tech that came with the Xperia V and the Xperia Tablet S) that usually only comes with Sony’s television sets, the OptiContrast tech helps reduce glare and reflection thanks to a resin layer that keeps diffused light from reflecting back to the user resulting to deep blacks, more saturated colors and most of all, better outdoor visibility.
If the OptiContrast tech somehow rang a bell inside your head, it’s probably because it works the same way Nokia’s Clearblack display does but the latter appears to take advantage of a different technology.
The Yuga/Xperia Z have the same design cues as the Apple iPhone 5, LG Optimus G and the Google Nexus 4 as proven by the glass front and back panels. It’s worth mentioning that the Xperia Z is dust and water-resistant.
Sony’s upcoming flagship is slated for launch in January next year and is expected to sport the Android 4.2 Jellybean operating system out of the box.
