Nexus 7 tablet of Google with 16GB storage is still the most popular
December 14, 2012, 6:45 A.M., Friday, New York local time — Google’s Play Store posts sold out sign on the Asus Nexus 7 WiFi-only model with 16GB flash storage, indirectly hints popularity despite growing popularity.
The Apple iPad Mini is a popular device, but its specs and beautiful design isn’t enough to stop Google’s Nexus 7 tablet as it expands its tablet PC market share. As reported by Droid Life, the Asus-made Google Nexus 7 with 16GB on-board storage and $199 price tag is sold out again at the Google Play Store.
The Google Nexus 7 base model joins the Google Nexus 4 in the sold out party, so apparently, Google is selling a lot of Nexus units amid growing demand for smartphones and tablet computers. More Nexus owners means more Google Play Store customers who will purchase movies, TV shows, books and mobile applications.
Online, the Nexus 7 is reportedly selling well. The slightly expensive Google Nexus 7 with 16GB flash storage is available on re-sellers and third-party retailers, and we’ve been told that customers in other countries with no Google Play Store access, are the targeted customers of the slightly overpriced Google tablet.
Compared to the Google Play Store Nexus 7 with $199 storage, re-sellers are taking advantage of the device’s popularity by posting $220 to $250 asking price (average), while the new high-end 32GB Nexus 7 is priced above $300. On Play Store, the new high-end WiFi only Nexus 7 retails for $249 each while the 3G version costs $299.
The Nexus 7 tablet currently competes with Apple’s iPad Mini and Google’s very own Nexus 10 Samsung Android tablet. The Nexus 7 features a quad-core processor, 1GB RAM and Android Jelly Bean mobile operating system out of the box. The device boasts a large 7-inch IPS display with more than 200 pixels per inch, a front-facing video chat camera and a sturdy build quality.
According to reports, Google is on the verge of selling at least a million Nexus 7 tablet this month, larger than its previous sales of 300 to 800 thousand units per month since its launch.
