Nokia Lumia 920 unlocked with Windows Phone 8: Off-contract price unchanged

October 14, 2012, 8:20 A.M., Sunday, New York local time — A source from third-party online retailers say the Nokia Lumia 920 is still priced at $700 (US dollars), unlocked and off-contract.

The top-end Nokia Lumia 920 is still expensive online, according to a source from a third-party online retail store who requested anonymity. Last month, we reported that the Nokia Lumia 920 sports the $700 price tag. After two weeks on pre-order list, the Nokia Lumia 920′s price is unchanged and still sports the same price tag.

According to our source, prices of unlocked phones change based on the number of pre-orders and overall demand and supply, so it looks like the device is not as popular as the iPhone 5 or the Samsung Galaxy S3, or not a flop phone either. No word yet on the phone’s current pre-order numbers.

The Nokia Lumia 920 is set to invade the US market via AT&T next month and experts say the device will sit within the $199.99 to $249.99 price range room, similar to the Samsung Galaxy S3 and the new Apple iPhone 5 on contract.

The Nokia Lumia 920 will run the latest version of Microsoft’s mobile operating system out of the box, the Windows Phone 8. The phone features a large 4.5-inch HD touchscreen display, and powered by a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Krait clocked at 1.5GHz, similar to Samsung Galaxy S3′s processor that runs on LTE and HSPA+ here in United States. (Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, T-Mobile and US Cellular). The Lumia 920 is also equipped with an 8.7-megapixel PureView primary camera, a front-facing camera and a new design featuring the engineered unibody polycarbonate body.
