Samsung Galaxy S3 release date: After Verizon, Canada faces delay

June 16th, 2012, 6:00 P.M.Qualcomm chipset related? New reports reveal that Samsung’s Galaxy S3 smartphone sees release date delay in Canada too, shortly after Verizon changes shipping date of its phone.

Samsung and its partners will start shipping the Samsung Galaxy S3 to North American customers this month, but it looks like some markets are not covered yet. This week, Verizon silently changes the “shipping date” or the release date of its Galaxy S3 phone, from the original July 9th to July 10th.

Now, a new report revealed that the widely anticipated phone is also delayed in Canada. According to Mobile Syrup, Samsung has issued a statement confirming that the S3 is delayed in the Canadian market, citing the “unprecedented global demand,” adding that the phone has reached a record-breaking 9 million pre-orders worldwide.

From the original 21st of June, the new release date of the Galaxy S3 is now on the 27th of June. Samsung wrote, “the date of availability for purchase of this device in Canada, is now June 27th.”

Meanwhile, some tech sites report that the Samsung Galaxy S3′s release date delay could be related to the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 shortage, similar to HTC’s problem. Due to popularity of Qualcomm’s new dual-core chipset, some HTC One S phones are equipped with Qualcomm’s S3 chipset, and not the original Krait Snapdragon S4.

Reuters reported last week that the supply of the new 28-nanometre chips will increase this year, but separate reports say the supply will be tight into the fourth quarter of this year, but will see the supply to stable by the first quarter of 2013.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core chip, in USA and Canada and other territories, due to network and LTE compatibility issues. In Europe and Asia, the S3 is powered by Samsung’s own Exynos 4 quad-core chipset.
