Samsung Galaxy S3 Verizon release date delayed?

June 14th, 2012, 7:05 P.M.Grain of salt, but tech sites report today that the shipping date, or the retailer to consumer shipping date of the Samsung Galaxy S3 of Verizon Wireless changes from July 9th to 10th.

“By or before,” take note of the two words, okay?

Verizon Wireless not shipping the Samsung Galaxy S3 to consumers this month? Sadly, the scenario is highly possible.

Reports today surface online claiming that the Verizon variant’s shipping date is now “by July 10th,” from the original July 9th. Apparently, it has nothing to do with the Apple patent lawsuit, but it could be related to the relationship of Samsung with the wireless providers here in United States.

According to the Verge, there’s still a chance that Verizon will ship the phone early, but always take the worst case to avoid disappointment. For the benefit of some readers, the AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S3 phones are all shipping to consumers on or by the 21st of this month, more than 2 weeks ahead of the Verizon variant.

The benefit of waiting for the Verizon Galaxy S3 is the carrier’s wider Long Term Evolution coverage, that’s the fact. However, some customers hate waiting, including our editor-in chief (because he’s a Verizon customer). Also, I am not an analyst, but I believe that release date of devices, especially the high-end smartphones, is critical to success. In fact, Samsung said in multiple interviews last quarter that the company will try avoiding the long-lag between the international release date and the North American launch dates, possibly related to the 2011 Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphone.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 in United States ship with Android Ice Cream Sandwich, 4.8-inch Super AMOLED Pentile display with 300 plus pixels per inch, 8-megapixel camera, 1.9-megapixel forward-facing camera, dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset, 2GB RAM, and the stylish physical home button similar to the international model.

In related news, US Cellular is also expected to ship its own Samsung Galaxy S3 LTE phone next month, followed by C Spire “later this year.” Analysts believe that carrier support is important now due to growing smartphone competition, plus the threat of prepaid iPhones. Apparently, Apple’s iPhone 4S and the 8GB iPhone 4 are coming to more networks later this year, like Cricket and Virgin Mobile, allowing Apple to lure more customers to its iOS ecosystem, especially the budget conscious Americans.
