HTC Sensation 4G, not the Samsung Galaxy S2, is getting ICS this month
May 14th, 2012, 1:32 P.M.– T-Mobile said it will roll-out the widely anticipated Android 4.0 ICS update for the HTC Sensation 4G, and followed by the Amaze 4G. Sadly, no Galaxy S2 ICS update mentioned yet.
The HTC Sensation 4G of T-Mobile is soon joining the growing Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and according to the fourth-largest wireless provider, the HTC smartphone is scheduled to receive the over-the-air Android 4.0 ICS operating system upgrade on May 16th.
The Android Ice Cream Sandwich, the 4.0.3 build, is coming with HTC’s custom HTC Sense skin on top of the original user interface, so don’t expect to see a vanilla-looking UI for your HTC device–but the new OS is the latest and greatest so far, so feel free to bombard T-Mobile with more “thank you” notes.
The new operating system comes with new features like new multitasking interface with the swipe-to-dismiss feature, the new data management service located in the setting menu, the new interfaces for Google apps like Gmail and YouTube, and also, the new operating system supports new apps like Google’s new Chrome for Android mobile web browser, and the new Google Drive.
Another smartphone that is scheduled to receive the update is the HTC Amaze 4G, the HTC Sensation 4G-like device with better camera software technology. According to a report posted by Tmo News, the phone’s new software is coming “in the coming weeks,” with no mention of the exact release date. Bad news indeed–but here’s another one–the new round of notes from T-Mobile do not include the most popular smartphone of the wireless carrier for the past two quarters, the Samsung Galaxy S2.
The Samsung Galaxy S2 in other countries, mainly in Europe, are already enjoying the Android Ice Cream Sandwich, and it looks like the smartphone variants here in the United States are at the bottom of the priority list.
Apparently, Samsung is expected to introduce a new smartphone next month here in North America, the Samsung Galaxy S3, and it is safe to say that the Korean-based tech giant will try its best to update the Galaxy S2′s operating system in order for them to attract new customers, and convince others that they “always update their phones.”
