MacBook Air, Pro rivals getting Intel’s helping hand
MacBook Air or Pro 2012 is or are getting a serious competition this year. Intel is reportedly set to help Apple’s rivals this year by launching “hundreds of millions” of dollars worth of ad blitz.
Rumours say Apple will launch a single laptop computer this year, a MacBook Pro with an Air-like design, sans the fat optical drive, with thinner keyboard, and with a new display plus new models with larger screen, and a new mid-range category.
Apple, calling the new generation the “post PC” era, is on the verge of launching a computer with iPad-like features, portable than ever, and internet-dependent as ever. However, Intel thinks its new chip and Microsoft’s operating system will offer more, and with competitive tag prices, ultrabooks with Windows and Intel processor are set to protect its market share this year from Apple.
According to a Wall Street Journal article posted last week, Intel will launch new ads this year promoting computers running its chips, and the ads will reportedly consume hundreds of millions of United States dollars just to spread the word that Windows-based laptops are setting the “new era in computing.” Intel’s Twitter page also teases its fans with the ad called “Ultrabook Desperado” with the wild-wild west-esque theme criticizing the musty computers.
But aside from the MacBook Air or MacBook Pro 2012, Intel’s babies are also expected to compete against the lucrative world of tablet computers headed by Apple’s iPad including the new iPad running a quad-core graphics chip, brags a high-definition screen, and with a new ecosystem which supports the cloud service called the iCloud which supports Apple’s post PC lineup, the iPad, the iPhone and the iPod with touchscreen. The new MacBook Air or Pro are also expected to tap the power of the iCloud.
Apple will launch a new Mac operating system this summer, while Windows-based ultrabooks are expected to ship new devices by Q3 of this year. Rumour mill also adds that new ultrabooks, chosen by Microsoft, are launching the new Windows 8 operating system before the holiday months.
