Galaxy Nexus Verizon invades NY ahead of release

Still waiting for the release date of the new Samsung Galaxy Nexus with theVerizon flavor? An NYC store offers hands-on ahead of the launch.

Test drive before you buy? Why not!

Apparently, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus with LTE or the Verizon variant is not yet available, but the release date is obviously just around the corner. And to attract more customers, a New York City smartphone store is reportedly offering hands-on of the new Verizon Wireless Galaxy Nexus. Sweet.

According to a Droid Life report on Saturday, the new Galaxy Nexus is on display in a Samsung store at Shops at Columbus Circle. The site is also adding that more stores and employees are being notified regarding the first Android Ice Cream Sandwich smartphone, so it looks like the phone will arrive before the Christmas week.

A leak posted last month was claiming that Verizon Wireless has planned to sell the Galaxy Nexus on Black Friday for $199, but additional reports (and speculation) say the carrier has decided to delay the release due to the highly publicized volume bug. The volume bug problem has now been fixed by a software update according to multiple reports.

Samsung in UK also confirmed the update, saying that they’re “currently rolling out” a fix for the volume issue, and the minor update will reach everyone in the coming week.
