Samsung Galaxy S2 (S II) Plus tipped again, now with 5.3-inch screen [Updated]

Samsung Galaxy S II Plus rumor

A new rumor is suggesting that the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus will use 5.3-inch screen and 720p resolution.

Summary: A blog from Europe is suggesting that the Samsung GT-i9220, the upcoming device that Samsung Mobile may introduce in September will offer 5.3 inch screen, with 1280 x 720 resolution and 1.5 GHz processor.

A new report posted by Italian blog AndroidUp claims that the Samsung phone with code GT-i9220 will be the Samsung Galaxy S II Plus, or the enhanced Samsung Galaxy S II variant that may arrive by October.

According to the site’s source, the Samsung phone will most likely use the name “Galaxy S II Plus” because it will feature enhanced under the hood power like 1.5 GHz dual-core processor, a large 5.3-inch (or 5.29-inch screen to be exact) Super AMOLED Plus capacitive touchscreen, and the latest version of Android.

The Samsung I9220 was first reported by websites quoting the “leaked roadmap” of Samsung Mobile, which could be the document that Samsung will use in the IFA 2011 in Germany on September 1. The GT-i9220 is a confirmed Android smartphone from Samsung, but the specs details surrounding the device are still considered as “rumors,” so we should take them with a grain of salt.

Aside from the GT-i9220 and 5 other handsets, Samsung is also expected to debut new smartphones in the US, the United States Samsung Galaxy S II variants that could join Sprint, T-Mobile and AT&T’s lineup by the end of this year to tap the upcoming shopping months of November and December.

Samsung is expected to introduce its new Samsung Galaxy S II (or Galaxy S2) variants by this month, and rumors have added that the first US-based Samsung Galaxy S II may arrive next month via Sprint Nextel, the Samsung Epic 4G Touch.

The Samsung Galaxy S II USA variants are expected to carry the original S II specs of 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, 8MP back camera, 2MP front-camera, Android 2.3 Gingerbread pre-installed with the latest TouchWiz user interface and the big 1 GB of dedicated RAM.

Update: A report posted by Phandroid claims that the AndroidUp rumor is fake, pointing to the Galaxy S WiFi with 5 inch screen.
