Acer Aspire 3951 with Windows vs Macbook Air with Mac OS X Lion?
Windows camp gearing up to rival the MacBook Air?
New reports say Apple’s Windows rival Acer to roll out new product that is a direct competitor to the MacBook Air netbook brand.
According to reports headed by Engadget, the Taiwanese company Acer is planning on releasing a Macbook Air like laptop that’s 13mm thin and 1.4 kilograms light, the PC clone of the popular Apple branded ultra-thin laptop that could really spark yet another round of fans throwing words against each other.
Leaked photos and other information coming from Vietnam suggests that the skinny Aspire 3951 will have the same internals as the current Macbook Air, it’ll be featuring the same second-generation Intel core processors along with n optional 160GB SSD. Battery life seems to be similar as well clocking in at over six hours as well as possessing the new Bluetooth 4.0 wireless radio, the device is also said to be as fast; completely usable upon waking up from sleep in under 2 seconds (1.7 to be exact).
It’s interesting to see that PC giants like Acer and Dell is obviously trying to copy Apple’s way of implementing the aluminum design into their products, it’s not like these big companies cannot fund their own team of designers to come up with the company’s own unique idea for their upcoming devices right?
Acer has not given any statement as to when the device will be released or if it’s even going to be put into production. Although some reports suggest that pricing for the Macbook Air copycat is said to be starting from $770 to a little over $900 dollars. What’s funny is if it’s going to be priced pretty much the same with the its Macbook counterpart, consumers are better off spending for the real thing.
But when it comes to operating system, it’s obvious that it’s still Apple versus Microsoft. Apparently, the new MacBook Air models are equipped with Mac OS X Lion out of the box, while the new Acer MacBook Air-like computer is still expected to use Windows 7.
