Google Nexus 4G (no S) and iPhone 5 release date clash? [Rumor]

Google Nexus phoneNext-gen pure Google phone versus iPhone 5? Release date clash possible if “Nexus 4G” is real.

Looks like it’s still Google versus Apple in the technology world, and this time, it’s in the mobile technology again with the rumored next-gen Google phone named “Nexus.”

According to a report posted by Boy Genius or BGR, Google could release a new phone and will feature Long Term Evolution, or LTE. Apparently, LTE is quickly becoming popular in United States courtesy of Verizon Wireless, but no mention of the carrier in the new Google phone rumor.

The new scoop also added that the next pure Google smartphone might use the name “Google Nexus 4G,” packed with 720p HD display, dual-core processor, and a 5 megapixel rear shooter with maximized potential. A lot of new Android smartphones today are packed with 8 MP rear camera, so we’re not sure if what’s the reason behind the rumored 5 MP, but we’re confident that Google is a not a stupid company to use 5 MP without a reason.

And it’s not a Google phone if it will not include the latest version of Android. Like its current phone, the Google Nexus S manufactured by Samsung, the rumored new Google phone will include Android 4.0, or Ice Cream Sandwich that will include new user interface, and other goodies. However, BGR added that there’s a possibility that the first Android Ice Cream Sandwich phone is not a “Google phone,” like what happened when Android launched Eclair and Honeycomb. The possible release date of the Ice Cream Sandwich phone is by Thanksgiving –which means, there’s a possibility that it’s the phone to challenge the iPhone 5.

iPhone 5′s rumor mill is suggesting that Apple might introduce the iPhone 5 in August or September, that will include the company’s latest version of iOS, the iOS 5 packed with new notification feature that is a bit identical to Android’s (and not Windows phone), and with tweaked software feature that will allow the volume up button to act as a dedicated camera shutter button.
