Amazon launches its own Android App Store.

Good news (for some) Android users, a new application portal surfaces, courtesy of online retail Amazon.com. The company finally launches its Android App store today, with hundreds of free and premium apps available for download.

Downloading the Amazon app store is easy, just visit the “get started” page here, with options like sending the link to your e-mail, or downloading app via QR code. After choosing the way to download the Amazon App Store, you Android smartphone or tablet will automatically install and save the app.

One of its compelling features against other Android app store, including Google’s native is Rovio’s new game called Angry Birds Rio, offered free by the Amazon app store for 24 hours only (14 hours remaining as of 1 PM, ET, New York City time).

Update: Bad news for some Android users. Some of PopHerald’s contributors living in Asia confirmed that the app store is downloadable, but all apps are not installable. Users living in Asia (Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, etc) are notified that “The Amazon Appstore for Android is not yet available in your region.” Big failure because all apps listed in Apple app store for iPhone and iPad are downloadable in Asia.
