Swift’s two years in the making album, is now the fastest-selling album in more than five years, since March 2005, according to a Los Angeles Times report.
Released last month, Swift’s “Speak Now,” have sold nearly 1,047,000 copies in United States, and still getting more. In her official Twitter account, Swift thanked fans who bought the album. She said, “I… Can’t… Believe… This… You guys have absolutely lit up my world. Thank you.”
Swift’s triumph in the sales chart is one of the first success stories of music artist after Limewire.com’s big shut down last week.
The P2P file sharing, known for its “irregularities” with music file sharing, was padlocked by New York District Judge Kimba Wood, days after Swift’s album was released.
Selling a million copies of music album in one week has happened only 16 times since 1991, according to Billboard.
But even before Limewire’s shut down, Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter III,’ managed to sell million copies in one week. According to Billboard, ‘Tha Carter III’ recorded 1,006,000 albums sold in one week.
