Kindle 3 a bestseller, iPad 2 not an eReader competition?
Amazon reveals Kindle 3 is the top-selling item in the history of their company. Another challenger, the iPad 2, expected to arrive next month or on the first quarter of next year.
Before the much-anticipated sequel of the dubbed “Kindle killer,” Apple inc’s iPad 2, Amazon has released a statement claiming that Kindle 3 is the top-selling item in the history of the company. Amazon’s own e-reader product, the Kindle 3, surpassed the previous owner of the top spot, the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, the last book of J.K. Rowling’s bestseller turned worldwide blockbuster film.

LCD tablet (iPad) owners also own Kindle, reveals Amazon CEO.
According to Amazon, Christmas day was the peak, where more people activated new Kindle eReaders, and bought more digital books in the Kindle store than on any other day in Amazon’s history. Kindle (with WiFi internet access) and Kindle (3G and WiFi internet access) devices were the best-selling products on Amazon this holiday season, the company added.
But the biggest mystery, Amazon did not say exactly how many Kindle readers they have sold, but an insider recently claimed that Amazon have sold about 6-8 million units. Count the number of units, and the possibility that these users will buy books on Kindle eBooks store, that’s an enormous amount of profits.
In related news, iPad 2 is expected to arrive next year, giving Amazon another indirect competition. One of the additional features according to rumors is the retina display, perfect for reading eMagazines and children eBooks. But Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos revealed that most of LCD tablet users also have Kindles.
Bezos said: ”We’re seeing that many of the people who are buying Kindles also own an LCD tablet. Customers report using their LCD tablets for games, movies and web browsing and their Kindles for reading sessions.”
