A Galaxy Nexus-like tablet might affect Android 4.0 tablet sales: Report
This month, tech sites repost the statement from Google’s Chairman Eric Schmidt about the so-called Nexus tablet, possibly the first pure Google tablet that will compete against the Apple iPad. According to an article written by an Italian newspaper, Mr. Schmidt reportedly said that Google will launch a new tablet before the end of second quarter of 2012, and this new device is “of good quality” that will compete against the tablet market leader, Apple inc.
Apparently, Google is already retailing its third smartphone (with the Nexus brand), the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and similar to its smartphone strategy, Google could also partnered with a smartphone/PC maker for the creation of the so-called Nexus tablet.
But aside from the Apple iPad, one new report is claiming that other Android tablet manufacturers are not happy to hear about the new development. According to Digitimes, unnamed sources say Android device manufacturers have voiced their concerns about the rumored Google tablet, and this may cause conflict with the upcoming Android 4.0 tablets, like the ASUS Transformer Prime for example.
No word yet from Google or from the Android team if the report from Italy is accurate.
