Apple iPhone 5, black and slate.

Apple’s new iPhone 5 smartphone offers an 8-megapixel sensor, but one accessory promises extra performance for better photo and video quality.

The contraption [dubbed as 'i.am+ camera'] resembles a classic Leica camera, it is basically a souped-up iPhone case with a separate 14 megapixel sensor and flash but it is unclear whether the lighting technology used on it is xenon or LED. The i.am+ camera takes advantage of the iPhone’s 30-pin/Lightning dock connector.

“We have our own sensor and a better flash. You dock you phone into our device and it turns you smartphone into a genius-phone. We take over the camera.” said the pop star on an interview done by The Daily Telegraph.
