iPhone 5, 4S to get Nano family: Release date in 6 to 18 months?
iPhone 5, iPhone 4S plus Nano model are Apple’s way of countering the fast Android growth?
While we’re still waiting for the legitimate release date of the mythical iPhone 5 and the confirmation that iPhone 4S exists, there’s a new report circulating on the internet that Apple could introduce yet another product that isn’t exactly a standard iPhone, but a cheap version of their smartphone.
According to ZDNet, Jefferies analyst Peter Misek thinks that Apple could join the cheap smartphone market with a $300 iPhone. The cheaper smartphone market is currently dominated by Nokia in Asia, and Android quickly catching up, while BlackBerry is also enjoying an impressive share with their cheap Curve smartphone. In South East Asia alone, BlackBerry is very popular especially in countries like Indonesia and Philippines.
The latest version of the Apple smartphone is the iPhone 4, packed with at least 1GHz processor, 5 megapixel back shooter and a front-facing VGA camera for FaceTime video chat. If the cheap iPhone will transform into reality, then expect a less powered Apple iPhone smartphone, with below average processing power, less powerful rear camera, but might include a front camera (VGA) to promote more FaceTime users. Sounds very Nokia-ish right?
