Google Cloud Drive preparation? Box for Android gets a major update including the free 50GB upgrade until March 23.

Box.net updates its Cloud Storage application for Android today.

Improvements include adding comments to files for collaboration, invite folder collaborators, improvement for uploading files to cloud which now supports multiple files upload from an SD card, updated user interface, and privacy changes.

Box said, “we only use this permission to quickly retrieve email addresses when you want to invite collaborators, and do NOT store any contact information on Box’s servers.”

But the best Box for Android update is the free 50GB upgrade until next month. According to Box, Android users that will log in starting today will get a free lifetime 50GB upgrade. Android users are now upgrading, and “loving it.”

Apparently, new rumors say that search engine giant Google is planning to join the cloud storage service this year, the Google Cloud Drive. Latest leak revealed that the Cloud Drive will be “deeply integrated” inside the Google ecosystem, and it is also possible that the cloud storage service will support Android.

The Box for Android is a free application and now available on the Android Market.
